I love how the notion that man has almost reached the edge of the solar system we reside in falls woefully short, in terms of popularity, of people complaining about Rihanna and Christina Aguillera showing some leg before the watershed.
Incredible

It's amazing to think of something from that era still functioning that far and for so long into the unknown.

Here's hoping it doesn't encounter a strange cloud and with it's 'o' 'y' and 'a' obscured by grot/soot/damage/etc, or we could be in for a load of trouble in a few years time.

I wonder how long until it comes into contact with the Klingon battle cruiser that uses it as target practice?
In all seriousness, it's fantastic that it still works 30 years later. The way in which technology has advanced in the last 30 years is awesome, to think in 1977 even the Atari 2600 was a dream, Pong consoles were about as good as it got

It does beggar belief somewhat that it's lasted this long in such inhospitable conditions.
I suppose it's comparitive simplicity compared to what is possible now could be a contributing factor.
Probably one of the advantages of old tech.

I bet if they launched one now using the best technology at hand it wouldn't get half as far as that one has!

Voyager 1 was launched on 5 September 1977, and its sister spacecraft, Voyager 2, on 20 August 1977.
how is that possible?

How do they guide it? Says it originally was launched to examine Jupiter and the outer planets
Does it still have fuel or was it just sent in a general direction?

Something to do with radiation that fuels it.
