After xmas has been and gone and i have some time the first mod to my Ibiza will be to change the lights. Im looking at a Hid kit for the main beam that will set me back around £100. Once ive installed that i would also be getting a set of these Philips bulbs for the dipped beam and fogs.
http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/H7-Philips-X-treme-Vision-100-Headlight-Bulbs-pair.html
The issue im having is i know that HID kits are becoming abit of a frowned upon subject as the rules and regulations on them change.
Price wise i would be looking at £200 for the Hid kit for my main beam and all of the other bulbs replaced with the Phillips bulbs.
On the other hand it would only be £150 to have all of them fitted with the Phillips bulbs.
Just asking what would you do here as i want the best possible lighting and im not sure what option to take? (expesnive if i mess it up)
Cheers

Hid kits are the ones to go for. You will only need it for the dipped beam tho as they will be plenty bright enough on the dipped beam. You won't even notice the difference when you put your main beam on.

You will want 501 led side lights and a set of hids for dipped. Can get both postes for less than 40 on ebay. Just find the bulb size and search... eg h4 hid. 6k is best imo and buy white leds not blue

I agree. The higher the number the bluer/purpley the light 4.3k or 6k are the most common. Also like John says don't forget the sidelights.

I had no problem at all, ballast went and they sent one out within a week.

Well there policy was that you had to send the defaulted part back (at your cost) and once they received it they would then send the replacement. The turn around was 3 weeks at the time.
I lost out on £120 back then

Every single set of HID's I've bought (a fair few) are cheap ebay specials and all work perfectly.
Worst I've had was water getting in a ballast, opened it up dried it, siliconed round the edge, back together and they are still going strong
Latest set I have are slim ballast from malaysia for 30 odd quid and if the built quality is brilliant, if they had a branded sticker on them you wouldn't think anything of it.

i have HID's on the puma and wouldn't even consider normal uprated bulbs now.
you don't even need to use full beam and the dipped beam is perfect for dark roads, just adjust the self leveller and away you go.
only ever get flashed when the self leveller is on '0' pointing all the way up, but thats only when i'm down country lanes, always keep is on '4' when driving on lit roads and they're fine.
