need a decent engine too but mates has seen 159@wheels iirc, but if say 175bhp or there abouts with 45s it wouldnt be bad

depends what carbs.
My old xe which was totally standard bar R1 carbs and Manifold back system produced 181bhp.

phillip2 on here says some of his mates' carb'd XEs that he's built have made something like 225bhp I'm sure. And he knows what he's talking about.

they were running cams, headwork, rods, pistons and a proper ex manifold/system to get 225bhp though, a bog stock xe id say about 175 or so, stock cams are at thier limit about 180bhp

This question is a bit like saying "How fast can I run if I buy some new trainers".. The carbs are only one factor, if you stuck just the carbs on you would get 0bhp because the engine wouldnt actually run!

ive got head ported and polished,skimmed,kent cams,4-2-1 straight through so obviously im up on bhp so what do you think i could be lookin at with 45's my mate is thinkin of takin them off his reddtop so id have a good price

what cams and who ported the head as ive seen some heads that have been ported and there a joke
