When you buy something you aren't just paying for what you "think" it's worth.

People seem to forget custom made items take time to make, so whoever makes them has to pay themselves for their time as well, has to pay for the costs of producing the items, etc. etc.

You are also paying for someone skilled to produce you something that isn't a bodge or is likely to fail after a short period of time.

£35 is not exactly a rip-off for something like that.

Cost price of the steel prob less than £10 little or no time to knock it up, £35 not bad but with vat £80 to do a car, again not a lot of money but it's things lie that which out the cost of a car build up, but then iv payed my money so can't have been that bothered, just thought it was interesting to point how costs build up...

So is your gripe basically the cost of this plus "extras" to make it go into your car, rather than the cost of this part alone?

No just think that the price is over inflated for what you get, however it would cost nearly double from Harry hockey so its not that bad, my gripe is the huge profit margin that motorsport companies make on things like this, i have
no problem with paying for engineering but this is just basic fabrication

If it's so simple why are you paying for something? Do it yourself?!

Being lazzy I suppose iv obviously made a conscious decision that I don't want to mess around and £80 is an easy option, what's odd the actual side mounts cost more and have less to them but I didn't mind paying, I think it's beacaus I know they could easily be made for less it annoys me.

If you made them yourself then of course they would have been cheaper - but like I've said in my first reply you are paying for their time, their expertise, the cost of buying raw materials (steel), electricity, tools, leasing of premises, insurance AND of course they have to make some kind of a profit after all that otherwise there would be no point in having a business!

doesnt seem like a bad price at all, i reckon it would take quite a while to knock a set of them up from scratch, and then they probably wouldnt be as good
