Car insurance is due in a couple of days so been looking round for quotes, trying to get the best price.
Be saying the car is
on the road vs Driveway save 5%
I would have thought it was cheaper to have it on the drive.

I've no idea if this is true, I'm just making this up in my head and it sounds right... but I'm sure alot more people put on the drive (whether its there or not) thinking it'll save them money. But because alot of people do this, more claims with this selection are made therefore making it seem driveways are more unsafe from the insurers point of view.
I could be talking absolute bollocks though

Even more expensive to have it in the garage.

I can kind of understand the point that people might claim for things falling on it, surely that's cheaper than the car being stolen from street though.
Can't see the logic behind driveway and street.

remember, alot of claims are made from burglaries from keys being taken from houses, a potential thief would know which house to burgle if the car was sat outside it, they would not know if it was on a road

How often does that hold up?
Unless there is some form of parking (not most streets) it will be right outside the house anyway.

I discovered this this year as well. So now every car of mine lives on the road

Cheers, you just saved me £16 on my renewal.
Anymore tips for getting some more off?

I'm not sure but I tell them it's on the road, it's honest and it makes no difference to me either

Add an old person with no car and many NCB on to your policy. They'll knock it down
{EDIT} they cant have a car cus you cant use your NCB on more than 1 policy

I'm not actually lying at all on my policy, but, I just play with it to make it a little cheaper.
Mum and Dad are both good clean drivers and both, occationally (if I'm using the Prius) use my car, so they are both named drivers.
I'm an IT Consultant, job title "Computer Technician" is the cheapest job title.
My car can sometimes live on the street depending what order people at home get home, so, it lives on the street.
Me using other cars (which is 100% true, Prius, used to drive the ex's car, KA, Uncles Jag) puts my insurance down.

You can't add NCB to named drivers
My Mum has her own policy with her own NCB, yet she's a named driver on my policy and theres nothing wrong with it!

Yep just double checked, it doesn't allow you to select NCB for named drivers.

If you fitted an exterior pack to a Corsa D, would you declare it as an 'Optional Extra - Bodykit'?

thats just how credit works, interest on the amount of money you borrow.

i mean the amount of interest is ridiculous, and the fact they "lend" you the money to pauy them back for a service is a bit daft, but cant blame them for making more money

I know u pay for the monthly, but they want up front was 500
Then if you wanna pay monthly it then becomes 600 then there 18.9apr on to of that also.
So this mean that 2nd on the list would work out cheaper, just a way of getting themselves to the top of the list.

For some strange reason my missus thought £1600 a year for me & her on a 1.4 corsa was a good deal...BEST PART COMING UP: £750 excess on a 13 year old car..>_<
Try ringing the insurance company up and it's "put put, ding ding". No english people, hate services like that
