Finding my 3 series a bit boring tbh after my XE.
Had the back end out, its not very fast or entertaining.

Should i just go back to a hot-ish hatch?

What else can i try? Plenty time for a sensible motor when i'm old and boring.

It is fast, just doesn't feel like it because of it's size.

I went from my Swift with GTi engine that felt faster than my 323i but they are about same speedwise in real world

Something quick, tidy, easily modified, budget around 2k.

I never know what to look at car wise, go onto pistonheads and usually end up looking at Corsa's again

Wouldnt mind an older car MK2 GTE/RS turbo kinda lines.

330i is a good choice

if your looking for a step up though you cant go far wrong with a 540i (e39) 6-speed

In what way are you finding it boring??The E36 is a drivers car.
Only thing good about an XE Corsa is the straight line speed. The E36(325/328) has the full package.
Also 328i is quicker than the 325i even though they only have 1bhp more. Its the extra torque that makes up for it.I wouldnt go for 1 though if you are bored of the 325i.
Ive had both an XE Corsa and 328i Sport and i would pick the BM over a Corsa anyday. But thats just me,prefer the drive of the BM.

328 has lsd so is no fun at all. as the barnshaw says, a cheap wrx can be had for your budget. they start at £1000 for runners so 2k will get you something not too shabby. or even a turbo 2000

Too comfy, doesnt seem quick or entertaining.
It's alright to piss about in the rain in a carpark, but if i was to keep it i'd want to mod it and i dont want to waste a perfectly good example by throwing money at it.

Impreza - HIC wont touch me with an Impreza.
S13, know people with them, off the road more than they are on.

Don't know why people are suggesting mk3 Astra GSis when he thinks a 325 is slow.

I'd go with a 106 GTI

It's looking like something along those lines Alan.
BMW seemed a reasonably sensible grown up option, just not quite at that stage i think.

May well stick the BMW on Pistonheads and see what i get offered, i didnt pay much for it, looking at similar ages/specs on PH i got a serious bargain.
