I have a smoothed front grille on the 32 and the number plate holder has been taken off and the holes covered but what I need to know is if the cops pull me (which they will eventually) whats the worst that can happen???

The traffic police have past me several times and taken a good look at the front of the car but dont nothing thus far. I'm just waiting on it happening but if there is a 100% chance points are involved them i'll have to bite the bullet and return the front back to standard

Anyone know???

Pretty sure just £60 fine but if it happens numerous times they can report to DVLA and have the car put on a Q plate I believe? Something like that.

My friends dad and friend have driven their 599's round with no front plates for two years now.
Both have just got fines. Not sure how much though.
Deffinatly no points or court appearances though

The front plate crap really annoys me as motorbikes don't have one

My neighbour doesn't have a front plate on either his 458 of 599. No idea how he gets away with it, or maybe he doesn't, but just continues to pay the fines.

this is a big thing on all the d turbos over here in ni they all have the plates on the front window but it is lega you can either get told to put the pate back on the front of the car of take a fine the only reason you have to have a number plate on the front of the car is so the police cameras can read it.

He's reasonably close to the truth, but it refers generally to mis-spaced private plates. I've not heard of it happening for a standard plate not being shown. If it gets reported to the DVLA, they can (and have) take the private plate and issue the car with a Q plate.

surely if it becomes a problem a couple of self tappers or adhesive pads will sort it, just stick them back on?

Would you screw threw a freshly done front bumper if you didn't really have to?

My mate ran his Mk4 smoothed front with no plate until he got fined, then he screwed one into it or may have used sticky pads, can't remember.

They will not issue the car with a Q plate. If it is personalised they will eventually take it off you and issue you with the standard plate. For not showing a plate will never result in a Q plate.
