I'm parked in front of an unused unit on the industrial estate behind work, not really meant to park there if I'm honest.
I've just been clamped and the "ticket" is just a square of paper with clip art padlocks and a mobile number saying £95 cash only

Where do I stand? They're clearly dodgy, do I cut it off and say it wasn't there when I got there or try and get the to take if off arguing the legality o it?

Is there a sign to tell you about clamping and £95?

There's a sign but no mention of the fine. I just thought there was a law that said since November only police and local authorities can clamp cars legally

if its got a padlock on it then cut off the padlock, get a new padlock
call them to come and release your car,
hide and when they turn up clamp their car and drive off

Haha my mates a locksmith who might be able to just undo the padlock, and I'm perfectly capable of jacking the car up and undoing the bottom balljoint so I could get it off without damaging it, then I'd return it to them and say it wasn't locked etc and avoid any criminal damage issues.
But if they've done me illegally I'll just cut it off with volt cutters

It's still legal, happened to somone i was talking to in Ilford the other night, he phoned the police and they wouldnt come out and told him to pay the money (£400) he even managed to get the police to turn up by being abusive to them and in the end one of them knew the clampers on first name terms and was pally pally with them.

If you confront them most cases they will not be hostile at all towards you as they are protected by the law unless they hit you etc.

Edit: Fine can be whatever they choose too aswell iirc.

Think the law is meant to come into force this year.

They can then invoice you for the damage to the clamp.

I'll be able to get it off without damaging it, just worried that I may get some kind of bigger fine after that. If I take it off I'll just say it wasn't locked when I got to it and there was no ticket on my car so I didn't know who to contact

If you take it off without damaging it, they have no grounds to fine you? The fine is for removal of the clamp.

So i rang them to come take it off and when the fat bitch arrived i said can i remove it if i dont damage it she said yes, so i went home for some tools came back jacked the car up took the bottom ball joint out and removed the clamp, she didnt look happy.

totally legal to remove them aslong as you dont damage the clamp

Check out http://www.pepipoo.com/

This topic has been covered 1000's of times.

Don't listen to the spuds telling you to pay; you will only be liable for the cost of replacing whatever you damage whilst removing the clamp. If the police are called, tell them you're were acting in duress. Forget the original parking "fine" also... it's nonesence.

Take plenty of photo's before and after, and make sure that they sign for the clamp when you hand it over so you have record of it's condition when they recieve it.
