Just hooked up my amp to my TV using the HDMI OUT on the Amp and so far on Freeview I'm getting picture but no sound. Might be a silly question but is it a case of my TV not being able to output sound through a HDMI IN? And therefore needing a coaxial or optical cable instead?
Basically I have:
TV > HDMI > AMP
Then:
360 > AMP
PS3 > AMP
The 360 and PS work perfectly with HDMI and I'm getting both sound and picture.

I'd say your first guess is probably correct Nath.
HDMI out might just be for sources that were originally input via HDMI.

Thats the plan. Or steal back the coaxial I gave my dad a couple of weeks back because I 'didnt need it'. I actually have an optical but it's too fecking short!
