So someones painted the wheels on my 172 Anthracite, but it's flaking off which makes me think it's been rattled canned badly.
I'd quite like to be able to restore the original silver, is there anything i could use that would soften/remove the coat of Anthrashite without damaging the original finish underneath ?

if they have been painted at all they would of probably been rubbed down anyway so will need a refurb.
just bite the bullet and get them dipped

To be honest with you looking at the bits where it's flaked the original finish looks unmarked.
Dont want to spend money i dont have to as theres things i'd rather get done to it before i worry about wheels.

if its shitty 1k aerosol thn you can just use thinners, but its a pointless exercise as you'l never get every bit off

I'll give it a go, plenty of time on my hands, need to wait on powerflew dogbone bushes arriving before i can take it out

id go with the nitromors to be honest i honestly dont think even if you get the paint off the underneath will be in good enough condition for me to want to put them back on a car! go with a nice clean respray

Ah right I didn't realise you were wanting to remove one layer of paint to expose another. Wouldn't have thought that would work very well.
