Ok, so it's been a while since I had a personal reg and I really can't remember the process, plus I went into the DVLA office to sort it out. So if someone with some knowledge could help me out that would be great.
What happens with Tax disc? I'm sure something has to be done with it, but can't remember what...
Can everything be done via post rather than going into an overcrowded DVLA office and camping out for days?

you send it back to the DVLA with your mot and V5 and they print you another one out with your new REG number on it

If you go on the website you can download forms and send them off. I'm just removing mine at the moment

Anyone know the answer to this one? Since the offence is failure to display a tax disc, are you unable to drive the car while the tax disc is in the post??

Just an update for anybody who wanted to know... you don't need to send your current tax disc away, you just send a photocopy..

When you receive the new one with private plate, just destroy the old one.

Correct. I've never given them an old one and I've been through the process enough times

Don't even need to send a copy now. Just the number on the top of the tax disc.
So just v5's, mot's and then fill out the form. Did mine last week.

You do if the tax disc was issued by a post office in the last 2 weeks, which is my situation..
Should have mentioned that really, lol.

They always asked for the tax disc until I done it at the end of last year, they change it all the time.

You dont need to post off the tax disc anymore.. You just surrender it when the docs come back.

They didn't ask for it back at all end of last year, it changes literally every time I do it though, which could be 6 months apart.
