If I were to buy a car with a custom paint job (nothing chavy just a lighter shade than normal)

Would it be hard for me to get pits painted in the same colour? Or do most body shops these days have a paint scanner so they know what to mix?

Colour in question below, looks a bit lighter to me. Plus all the colour coding is exactly the right colour which is why I have reason to believe its been resprayed.

If its a metallic or a pearl you will certainly struggle getting a perfect match but a pastel colour you shouldnt have much trouble matching it if it isent a majorly radical colour :-)

EDIT: check bonnet shuts e.t.c for over spray and possibly door shuts see if the original colour is there and is darker or if its dusty from overspray

EDIT (AGAAAIN) Just re-read what you put and i saw you said your buying a car, well have you seen it in the flesh or are you just going off that pic as maybe the pic just happens to be poor quality and isent a good match? possibly

Hmmm very difficult! Ask the owner for a paint code and most body shops will be able to look it up! Or at my college we have all manufactures and colour charts of every type of colour of every make of car so if we dont know the paint code then it comes to do some old fashion matching mate

why would someone have resprayed it a slightly sifferent colour
That doesnt make any kind of sense.

Id say it was flame red, it will look different after/before a polish

Isn't red like the hardest colour to match?

Its not that they "forget" its the amount of extra work it takes, and the extra cost the customer probably doesnt want to pay.

Not read all of this but if you do buy it and it has had paint then make sure you find out the code/colour etc before buying it from previous owner...

My pulsars had paint and is a slightly different colour from standard and without knowing what colour it is, it makes it a mission to paint things.

right pain in the rectum.

redtom you can get a spectro on it but not alot of bodyshop have them due to the cost, ours was about £5k. Alot of the paint outlets will have them but will charge about £25 to get the colour from it.
