Anyone go to an NHS dentist?
I have browsed around their website and it mentioned something about bands 1,2 and 3.

1 - check ups etc, under £20
2 - extractions, fillings etc, under £50
3 - bridges and all that, £198

Can anyone confirm how long each band lasts and do you pay say £50 for all your fillings or is that the price per tooth? it doesnt really say tbh.

you pay per treatment or something, so if you have one filling for 3 check ups you pay one price. so if you need 10 fillings at same time you will pay one price

When i was on the phone they didnt know what i was on about. They just said the guy does the check up and you get a bill at the desk which has the costs, which makes me think theres more to it.

You pay for check up once then you pay for treatment once I'd you need 3 fillings and an extraction because of that check up you will pay £50 and that's it even if you have the fillings on say Tuesday and the extraction a week later you only pay once as it's all classed under the same course of treatment

I've just had my last filling today.
I paid £45.60 on band 2 for a check up and 2 fillings, That was over 3 visits.

First visit was my 6 monthly check up which costs £16.50 on band 1.
They said I needed 2 fillings, they drilled everything out filled one tooth and dressed the other to see if the root reacted to the cleaning out and left it over the weekend, Today they filled the second tooth.

That's on the NHS.

Im shit scared of the dentist for some reason, think it was a bad experience as a kid.

I found one recently though, who was bloody brilliant. Made me feel alot more at ease than anyone else.

Its just a joke at like £80-£150 a filling etc

But id rather pay that than be shitting a brick

Also, my cousins wife, reckons if i was on NHS, most of the time they wouldnt rather extract what could be a long filling (as they get paid the same for a few mins as an hour long job)

Never the case with my dentist. I stopped going for 10 years after mum stopped force's me to go, Now the wife forcing me. I used to be shit scared but the last few times have been fine as the dentist tells you what he's doing and to tell him if I feel pain.

I told him to pull the tooth this time but he refused point blank saying he won't remove a healthy tooth no matter what

Plans to remove them completely by April this year apparently, it has been a long time since I've had one.

There was stat somewhere or other that said only 5% of people pay for them anyway so it'll make no difference giving them free.
