Whats your reason for going for the 8v? The best one is the sri 130 engine but I cant remember how to identify it or what models it came in

C20SEH is the better one if you want a standard 8v. The NE is an old taxi engine

Well it would be my dads mate fitting it so I could choose either, but I'm thinking practically for the 8v being easier to work on so will be a good base to learn on.

Thanks mate, what would be involved in the conversion IE would I have to change engine mounts etc the car I'm getting used to have a 2.0 8valve in but not sure which, Also what gearbox would I use? I'm new to all this so just trying to get a rough idea of what goes on and needs to be changed.
And also would you say these would have the SEH in?

Its all the same as XE's, Bigblock mount, Bigblock gearbox (F16/F18/F20/F28), Poss a spacer.
I wouldn't have a 8v though.
And yep, Hence why its a cav SRi 130...

In a 1.2 8v it's a piece of piss to do as the chassis and wiring loom are the most basic ones.

You do the same things for an 8v or a 16v.

Easyiest way to tell with out looking at engine codes is the ne says ohc on the right hand side of the rocker cover and the seh has it on the raised block part of the rocker cover

Mines has a ne , Courtenay ecu exhaust 4 branch exhaust and filter and made 110bhp at the wheels and now feels alot quicker now I have put a cam in it goes alot better . Wasn't a kick in the balls off Connollygt30's xe with piper cams . A have had it for a year and its only cost me £16 to fix when the head gasket went . IMO for reliability they are the engine to go for .

Wasnt a kick in the balls off it but would have been a different story if the XE had like for like mods...
XE's are quicker out the box...end of.
Reliability is a load of pish too,if an XE is built right and actually fitted properly it will be reliable all day long

How for being what it is? 140 odd bhp before that cam was fitted? of course it was going to keep up with a near standard XE with full interior

So what does 110bhp at the wheels equal at the fly??About 140bhp??No bad at that keeping up with a cammed XE tbh.
I had a standard Mk3 Gsi XE and at the same time my bro had a Mk3 with an SRi 130 20SEH engine with 4branch,exhaust and filter and the XE quite easily pulled away from anywhere in the rev range.

So about 145bhp now.Still no bad.
Healthy XE with same power or more,i would imagine should be quicker.Esp 1 that beats 182s and CTR's.

Well the guy at the rr said he reckoned 140 ATF but with the kent cam in it feels like it has added more than 5 bhp
