Unless your commute is 50 miles each way surely it would have been better to fill up last night after work than to run out when you are already late the next morning

Fuel light is there for a reason

I'm gonna be really annoying now and tell you I can pretty much guarantee that you could've made the further half a mile without having to walk it. I've done it before a few times and told my brother how to do it the other day which got him to the next petrol station about half a mile away

I know

Put it in gear, clutch out, start it. It shakes it about a bit which seems to help it find a last bit of fuel to get you that bit further.

It used to be a regular thing when I worked for Suzuki, moving new cars between the compound and dealership and they had next to nothing in the tank. The first time it happened I ended up getting towed to the compound then the lad up there jumped in did the above, rolled his eyes at me then went and parked it up I used it quite a few times after that

I've only ran out of fuel once, as the computer said 20 miles left, but I went on a economical run and reset it, so it thought it had more distance to go and didn't have enough time to re-compute

I've never ran out in one of my own cars/vans only ever as I mentioned before shifting brand new stuff about. I did once pull into a petrol station in the Corsa and I could hear the fuel pump sucking in air, that was a close one

Ive ran out of fuel 3 times in my old corsa because of either being too lazy to fill it or due to waiting for a specific petrol station.
Twice i ran out on the exact same spot and once on a motorway 30 miles from home. Luckily there was a hard shoulder. Unluck for me i had to pay something like 172 quid to get the car from the cunts the police phoned to get my car moved when there was no fucking need.
