well im still no surer what i want but have been thinking..

i would like a fast car that i can afford to drive about without wincing

bringing fwd back into contension. performance diesel which around 170bhp+ is achievable. nice looking although it can be estate, saloon, smallish (no smaller than a golf). no earlier than 2000 but newer the better. no more than 100k.

which brings me to the following maybe options.... none of which are what i asked for but meh

330d (looking very high miles/cat d for the money)
mk5 golf gt tdi (creeping into range)
various audi a3/a4 tdis (not sure if i like them)
various seat option (wasnt overly chuffed with my cupras build quality)
astra cdti (not sure on these tbh)
skodas (hate the fabia)

what are the most tunable?
whats best in my 4.5k budget?
whats the best car?
any other ideas?

p.s. can you tell i have no idea what i want

wont get much car for your money there

i managed to pick up a nice 5 door astra 1.7 sri with xp kit and pentas for £4500 on 06 plate and that was a good buy

golf will be old model, and moon miles

you'll be looking at the older a3,

what happen to the corsa?

Look around and you should find a decent 2000/2001 E46 330d Msport with average miles.

What i would do in your situation is go onto PH,put your budget in and the distance your willing to travel and see what pops up.Will give you an idea of cars in your price range etc.

Kinda ironic seeing as you had the Civic and probably other cars on PH.

Why isnt it ideal??

You have the money, you can afford to run 1.You probably wont lose much if any money on it.You said yourself you arent really using a car at the moment, thus wont be putting mega miles on it.

Seems like the perfect time to own a car you have always wanted.
