On my pas hoses running in between the rad and the exhaust manifold there looks to be a horrible metal conduit type thing around the rubber hose. Can i take this off or is it there for a reason?

This, what do you reckon a rubber hose would do touching against your exhaust manifold?
I had this problem with the XE only I had the metal sheathing in place. The manifold burnt a hole in it one hot summer day and the resulting fluid leaking onto the manifold made it look like my engine was on fire with the amount of smoke.

As ugly as it is it's there for a purpose.
If it bothers you that much take the pipe off and paint it black?
