Friend has done quite bit work on his car, and after refitting steering wheel, there is now play going in and out?

You can push wheel in around an inch, however if you do the squib crunches and catches wheel.
However if you pull out all works fine, problem is minimal pressure makes wheel go in.

What's solution to this? New column ?

Corsa b. It's not how tight wheel is on it's the actual spline it sits on can be pulled in and out by finger tips

he put the spring back in befing the wheel? or theres a plastic spacer that sometimes brakes on the column and allows it to move around.

Yes spring is in. On the plastic surround is two metal clips one popped out, is this likely to be it?
Price for new column?
