hey just bought a 55 plate corsa sxi unfortunately i had a camshaft snap within the first 24hours of owning it. i should be getin the car back tomoro. i just wnted to know if any one has had this problem and how common it is?

You snapped a cam? never heard of that before, not common anyway

yea the bolts on the followers that hold the camshaft in place came loose and the shaft snapped

So someone who had previously worked on it hadn't torqued them up? was it bought from a garage or private sale?

cheers. i got it from a garage and aparently there was a recall on that model. vauxhall dealership were my cars being repared left a message telling me about the recall. obivously it wasnt carried out on my car :s

How long did you have it before this happened? you should go back to the seller asap and explain what's happened.

Yup my old C has had a recall letter come through this month - it went in for the work to be done this week (as my parents now own it)

Wonder if you can get it sorted by VX seeing as it's a recall issue - they've only started recalling cars this year.

definately go back to the garage if you have only just bought it. as in tommorow go back and get on the case.

yea i had the car a day bought it 2 saturdays ago n it brokedown within 24 hours, it was town away to a vx speciallist and then to a dealership. luckly its all under warrenty but iv been carless for a week. hopfully it should be back tomorow. but yea, just thought id let every one know about it happening on this model, seeing as theres a recall
