Right I know tge majority of people on here have owned one at some point!
They seen to get massive mixed reviews though! I know what warren g thinks but then I was talking to a lad at a garage next to mine who has owned his for 4 years almost. Quite a few on aoc have been owner for a fair while

Pro's-cons? Other cars you would get for the ££, would want a low milage one so I am gunna be paying 6k-ish if I get one. I couldn't deal with having another high milage car

Px fabia vrs? I was actually gunna say your not aloud to post in the thread as you will just turn in negative
Astra vxr's are also 1k extra on insurance, and I don't wanna have to borrow money/be short getting a really expensive car. I need to save money for when the inevitable happens, like it seems to on all my cars :O

I've driven one and did not like it at all, quick? yes. fun and involving? for me no.

Gear change felt awful and there was no feedback from the steering imo.

VXR is a much better drive.

I paid 6k for a 40k good con example two years ago, i wouldnt pay 6k now, thats not that far away from corsa/astra vxr money.

I loved it and miss it all the time. If you want a nice comfy car that can breeze past people on the motorway without changing gear then its what you want. I used to go b road driving all the time and never had problems with how it felt, im not the lairiest driver so never really got to its limits.

Queue Jambo.....

Oh right, general feedback seems to be 'uninvolved driving experience'
fro did the one you drive have a short shifter? They seem to have porridge shifter, but you can get good short shifter kits for then supposdly. Better than the couldron stiring fabia vrs! I would love a vxr but it's just £££ isn't it. And insurance is expensive, Gsi works out about £50 more than my fabia!

Chris is selling his sri, good example of an sri with all the right mods and cheaper insurance too.

I haven't owned one but my mate did and didnt like it at all and wasnt what he expected it to be and traded it back in at the garage not long after getting it and he got a 182 instead. Better driving experience and better on fuel and better handling he said. And I can quite believe it being a better car. Iv always lived gsi's and always thought id own one but not sure nowadays

I go in my mates gsi a fair bit and it does handle. Doesn't have a rarb though which surprised me. He has coilovers pulybushers, stiffer engine mount.
I wouldn't say 6k is vxr territory or even nearly there, a half decent vxr is 8.5k ish. Higher insurance group. While a low milage standard is gsi is about 5.5 or so? There are quite a few at around 6.5k!

Corsa vxr is out the question aswell.

Nope no short shifter from what i could tell, tis like mixing soup

I agree they do handle though, mates has coillies, LSD and i think a RARB and goes round corners very well indeed, I just didnt like the way it drove personally.

Ask your mate if he will let you loose in a car park and then go from there

Hm, would prefer to have a 'gsi' though. Don't like sri's at all. Just look like a normal astra. I am not really keen on the coupes shape

Thing is alot seem to have owners of a few years. I have a b for the week to hack too and from work, so would be more fun

Yea next question-anyone wanna let me have a burn in their astra gsi as close to Sevenoaks as possible. Fro your mate seems to have spent alot of money to not like it? Are they 5 or 6 speed by the way?

For an extra 1.5k you could get a corsa vxr 07 with roughly 40/50k, insurance might be a bit more though. Either way i would still buy a gsi but i would not pay 6k. They are coming up for 9 years old now so rust etc would be about to start on most of them and things like bushes will be needing replaced. I never had any issues with mine but the previous owner had spent hundreds acouple of months previous to me buying it.

He likes it but i dont

Pretty sure they're 5 speed but you can change the box to a 6 speed iirc.

Edit: He was thinking of selling it a little while ago as he wants a monaro, will ask him and see, decent milage from what i can remember and he is an anal mo fo

I love mine, goes well enough, i've got a RARB and just bought some coilovers so will get them fitted and it should handle decent enough.

oh, they aren't great on fuel atall really, I get about 23mpg *according to the trip comp* but I don't really care as it's to be expected with a turbo car I'd say?

What gearbox do they have??F23??

Are the gear ratios in the Astra Gsi different to those on the 2.2??IIRC the 2.2 has the F23.

yes the 2.2 has the f23 but will make no ods anyway as you cant use the 2.2 box on a GSI
