cdti is a bit more powerful and 5 stud but I can't afford one
These DTI engines are the same in astras and vectras, right?

pump or ecu expensive to replace if they go wrong? do they go at a certain mileage?

They arent particularly efficient engines, the 2.0DTi in my Astra only gets around 45mpg (fairly poor for a diesel these days I think?) even when driven like a granny and only makes 95bhp / 150lbft from standard. They dont map very well (when compared to your 130PD's and 1.9CDTI's) but you can box them and I can comment its been a very reliable engine, in the 3 years weve had ours its had a a couple of air filters, oil changes and a set of glow plugs, think thats it engine wise.
Also the 2.0 is a chain not a belt, not sure about the 1.7 though, but if so thats a maintenance plus point too
