bet Cameron wishes he hadnt scrapped Ark Royal and the Harriers.

still, time for the RAF to flex its muscles.

The world police have banned any aircraft movement in Libyan airspace. Members of the UN (UK, France, USA, Germany etc) will enforce this. If Gadaffi tries to bomb his own peoples then use of deadly force is authorised to take out his air force.

I wonder whether we'll operate out of Saudi or maybe cyprus. No good for a dog-fight as time on target would be very low with a 1 hour commute each way. This is why we should still have carriers with Sea Harrier and GR9 on board. The combination of those two would mean total air domination within 1000 miles of the ship. Add in the french carriers and the americans and we'd have a proper chance, but we'll be useless at the kind of ranges to allied soil (or sand) so would have to leave it to countries whose governments didn't fuck up their military power for short term financial gain

Taif is probably closest. Still over 1000miles to civilization though. Already geared up for EFA there too. Gioa del Colle in Italy is 1500 miles away. I was there during the Balkans conflict with Harriers so it's a hmoe from home for the raf.

We might have to ask that indian guy for our carrier back
