Try cleaning out the Throttle Body with Carb cleaner. Could also be an air leak, have you checked for that?

Do you have an EML light showing?

The eml is Engine Management Light. By air leak I mean anywhere from the air filter to inlet, is there a whole or gap in the pipework/hosing causing air to leak?

Also, get a diagnostics on your car or paperclip test, wuill show you what fault codes are coming up. Could be Lambda sensor.

TBH it could be anything, keep trying different things to narrow it down.

The lambda sensor's just an oxygen sensor, it measures the amount in the exhaust gases and modifies the fuelling to suit if I'm not mistaken.

Does it do it from cold? Because if it's a lambda, as far as I know they only start working when the car's heated up. Check with someone who knows a bit more than me before taking that advice though

Yeah thats it, thought it was oxygen sensor but wasnt too sure.

Also you are right about the car needing to be warm first, the eml will only come up on idle or when the car is warm if it is Lambda

imo jord check condition of icv,if its from a scrappy could b worse than yours.
Check the electrical plug contacts
You can open it up n clean it as over time the contacts rust which dont allow electricity thru to the motor n the valve sticks. Illcheck over weekend il gt some b,c. N clean cam/crank sensor n check air mass meter
