basically dodgy spring retainer and follower made it so the collets came out and the valve dropped into the engine.

it biggered everything up head, block, piston so ive had to rebuild it from ground up.

its been done here at home, everything is ready to just bolt on.

I think you'd want to elaborate 'something' to be making accusations like that

it was nothing that i did..

why would you ever think it would be. ?

the followers were thicker that standard ones even tho they are standard, and they were not floating on the valve but resting on the spring retainer, did 170 miles and the followers wore through the retainers popping out the collets holding the valves in place and the valve dropped into the block.

buggered the block bore, buggered the head and cracked some valve guides.

did you ever get some of the rebuild parts cost back from the supplier of dodgy followers?

Went out for a lap of a track in a vx220 turbo recently. That was standard apart from stage 1 remap, larini, and 16/17's and my god it was good. Can only imagine what 300 supercharged bhp must be like.

I want one!

yea, i got a whole new valvetrain and a piston and rod for free, i had to pay for the block (£25) & head (£125) and then machining of both (£200) then i had to pay for oil (£30ish) and a new gasket (£45)

so its not been that bad really.

pics so far

Engine out

re-installing chains

started at 7:30 and ive just walked back in and this is how far we have got

the only things left to do are :

re-fill the water system
re-fit the exhaust manifold
re-fil with oil
re-fit induction pipe / filter
re-fit fuel pipes

then the engine is ready to be turned over, then i have to fit the clam which is going to be a ball ache

oh, and a pic of my new heatshield riveted in place.

all done now, everything running perfect apart from a rattle somewhere on the clam..

pretty happy, goign to take the cam cover off at 150 miles to make sure that its not causing any damage and let my paranoia rest

So since you got the valvetrain, piston and rod for free I take it the company accepted blame? So Steve's just being a mixing diddy?
