Im looking to tune my C16XE and want peoples thought/advice on few parts.
Inlet manifold-Do vx performance ones give same gain as manztel?
Air filter-Is it best have standard airbox or induction kit?
Exhaust manifold-Do they give any noticeable gains?
Race tubes? What do they do?Are they another type of decat?

Pretty much 15 - 20 BHP can be achieved. However on C16XE's you need a X16XE or X14XE lower inlet manifold to fit the after market inlets.

Air filter-Is it best have standard airbox or induction kit?
Standard airbox with a foam panel filter like Pipercross or a Courtenay one even K&N will do but Drill holes in or cut away the bottom of the airbox.

Exhaust manifold-Do they give any noticeable gains?
Yes, people have different opinions on 4-2-1's and 4-1's so I will let someone else explain about them.
I cant remember which one gives lower down gains and which does higher.

Race tubes? What do they do?Are they another type of decat?

Racetubes are a completely straight through pipe from cat back, so you would need a de-cat as well as racetube to have a fully straight through exhaust.

Hope that helps

No, different size intake pipes on the c16's I think anyway.
I know that the lid is different, the lower box may be the same but the lid is different because of the AFM.

4-1 peak power...4-2-1 for mid range....you spend more time in the mid range than flat out so go for the 4-2-1

But an inlet manifold pushes the power right to the top of rev range so you're better with a 4-1 to help with this.

Get the rev limit raised to 7,500rpm, but make sure a SBD cambelt rollers and ARP Conrod bolts

no need for the metal rollers, only used to go on early motors, new plastic ones will do the job fine.....and why would you need a 4-1 manifold to push power even higher when the mantzel will do that anyway? and you spend more time in the mid range? read ANY decent performance book and most people will say they would rather gain 10bhp mid range than the 5 they 'may' get peak becuase thats where your always driving, you dont drive flat out long enough to make it worth while... only pub talk

But when on track, with a small block xe and a inlet you'll always be changing gear right near the limiter as that's where peak power is. So it makes it sense to get a 4-1 to get a bit top end power.

Actually, anywhere, when you've got your foot down u change right near the rev limiter, u wouldn't benefit from a manifold that gives mid range power, because you'll always be revving past that power bracket if that makes sense.

How do you drive, and what will it be used for?

If you like ragging the fuck out of your car, then your best off with the mods you've asked about.

Or base your mods around a Lexmaul inlet, which give lots of lower down grunt.

I wouldnt get a 4-1. They are way too low. Scrape on the slightest of dips in the road. Very poor design. And to be honest there is no noticeable gain. I have had both the 421 and 4-1 and would recommend you to get the 421 any day mate
