I fail to see how being logged as a 1 litre still affects wether its faster than a redtop or not

I thought it was quite common knowledge that the 1.6's are quite often on par with the redtops. Redtop is a heavier engine. My mates have got 1.6 Corsa's and they look faster than redtops.

1.6's aren't necessarily slower that redtops mind, but he does sound like he knows what he's on about of course

I'm actually being serious Redtops really aren't fast, IMO. Once you start doing stuff to them then yeah, although even saying that my mates Nova 1.6 on Bike carbs would smash most redtops

and the 16xe isn't anywhere near enough lighter than a 20xe to make up the extra power and torque.

they didn't even do that they just fucked about with the cylinder head. The block is mostly the same as the old 8vs that have been going since the dawn of time.

My sport kicked a redtop round a roundabout and onto a motorway then he started catching up at around 120, then overtook me...

Like for like,a C20XE would fuk all over a C/X16XE Corsa
The 2.0 is only around 30kg heavier so no worries on that front.
Don't know what it would be like compared to a 1.6 with a different inlet etc.But i wouldn't be worried.

At all these people saying a standard 1.6 would hold a standard Valver.
Get to fuck, seriously.
I took an x16xe out my sport, fitted a valver which had nothing more than new stem seals, a head skim, head gasket, water pump and a timing kit.
I can safely say the difference was noticeable, and it handled no differently, if anything i pushed it harder with the XE.
Maybe i'm just crazy, say what you want.
I've had 3 x16's and 2 valvers and the valver wins everytime.
Edit - Just to add, i've never seen an x16 pull all the way round and off the clock without a hint of hesitation...
