Just got my renewal quote from Brentacre on my 1.6 Sport with exhaust, suspension and air filter declared. I'll be 20, 2 years license, 2 years no claims, £1700 Fully Comp!!

How can everyone else get theirs so cheap with XE's etc under the bonnet? I called Flux for a quote and they could only get near that with TPF&T, lass on the phone said it'd be over £3000 fully comp!

I wouldn't mind so much if it was lower than what i paid with them last year, but it's exactly the same Maybe time for it to go and find something cheaper...

Your car is at the point where it's worth keeping it and paying as much though... I don't have that appeal with my car, especially when i keep looking at newer cars

When I was 20 I was paying £590 on my 1.8 Astra.
Then got my gsi when I was 21 and paid £650.

Try putting your mum on as a named driver, think that helps mine.

Im with brentacre and they quoted me £650 when renewal came round. After providing them with some other quotes half of what they wanted I got them down to £488.99.

Ring REIS insurance as their quotes were outsanding

I'm concerned about renewal in May, although I must be better off with 1 years NCD (even with the general insurance hikes). I'm 28 this year and i'm paying a grand on a shabby old 1.8 vectta

WTF 3k on a A3 TDi?

You all must be doing something wrong if your in your 20's now.

I insured the MiTo for 15k a year, every option box ticked with a £400 excess for £460. That has 3 years NCB (coming up for 4)

I insured the MX5 for £585 with 0NCB.

Add your parents as named drivers (brings it down)

I know, I did a quote with Tesco (who im currently with) and on Tesco compare and comparethemarket, the best was £1800 from some unknown company then the rest were all £3K+. Couldn't believe my eyes.

I thought id get a diesel instead of a petrol to keep the insurance costs down the but petrol equivilent was exaxtly the same price.

I just don't believe it, granted I insured the Mito last June but I did the Mazda last month, after insurance tax and all these hikes in progress.

I live in a B rated postcode.

Thing that annoys me most is i can insure a Corsa C 1.8 SRi for £1100 fully comp with Elephant, and even a 1.8T Audi TT for £2000!

You can get insurance for your excess. Its about £5pm to cover a £750 excess, so if by selecting a £750 excess saves you more than £5 a month your quids in.

I would have been happy with that quote @ your age, it cost me £5,500 to inure a 206 Gti @ 21, an £4,400 to insure a Golf 1.8T @ 22
