Hi Guys
I've seen alot of people have posted about removing and blanking off the EGR valve, what are the benefits of doing this and also does it not upset the ecu when you unplug it? I'm assuming everyone is talking about the solenoid on the inlet and not the air pump thing that comes off the exhaust manifold??
any help and advice would be grand and if its worth doing i'll do it

What engine do you have? Mine is blanked on my x14xe and it a nightmare to do. No peformance gains, only reason mine was done is because it caused it to stop running completely.
Imo dont bother unless your having problems with it.

Unbolt the egr make a blanking plate to sit were the gasket goes, fit plate and gasket, bolt it back on leaving the egr plugged in, eml light won't come on unless u give it a good thrashing but once u turn ur car off and back on eml light will go out

yeah^^ make a plate, drill the holes for the bolts, put both the plate and egr back on. because its not disconnected it'll not come up engine management, but its debatable if you'll get any gains, personally i cant see how you would but apparently its been proven

Oh I see, well i think i'll leave it as it is, if there are no gains to removing it then i won't. But am i right in thinking EGR stands for 'exhaust gas resurculation'? but how does that work when its on the inlet manifold??? obviously its designed to lower emmisions but its been a while since i looked at it closely and can't remember it taking any 'draw' from the exhaust?

The draw is on the side of the exhaust manifold flange and flows through cast passages internally in the Head IIRC
