I registered as self employed to do a few jobs in my spare time but I only did two maybe three jobs before I gave it up so now I need to unregister? I had a bill through for NI insurance today so obviously I need to sort this out before I get billed when I'm not making money. What's the best way to go about this?

you need to ring up and tell them your not self emplyed anymore and make sure you know your last working day other wise they will still be wanting n.i and tax.

HMRC are an absolute nightmare to deal with. I registered online as self employed last September and it took three months just to get my UTR. I work for a main contractor under the CIS scheme so my tax is taken out by them but for all this time I was paying 30%. Even after I got my UTR it took another three weeks to get CIS registered.
When you do eventually get through the miriad of numbers and transfers to speak to the right person they act as though it's a huge inconvenience to them and in some cases actually hang up on you, knowing you'll have to go through the process again as it's almost impossible to get a number for the department you need to speak to.

In other words, good luck!!

You could always request the tax to be taken out of your main employment salary if ya want to.
