Airbag light came on the other night so though I would order a Diagnostic cable and download some software. The light ended up turning itself off before the cable came so I ended up looking into coding modules and seeing what was possible.

Best thing I have activated so far is the roof operation via keyfob

I've also programmed the alarm chirp on arm/disarm. Main beam and headlights flash as well as hazards when alarm is triggered. one touch windows up and down all round.
Still playing with a few bits as there are a couple other bits I want to add.

Also got an exhaust vid:

NCSexpert, was in the vid description.

Got a Bimmer cable from Ebay and downloaded a full version of INPA.

The BM's you can cover will depend on the cable/year of car you're using. I got an OBDII cable which should cover anything from when OBDII was introduced. you can also get a round plug for older ones.

quite a bit of info on bimmerforums and m3cutters

Just changed my hazards to double flash and the crash setting for hazards to very fast

Yeah roof and windows already had that activated.

Edit: might turn it off though now it works from the keyfob as vags can be broken into easily due to this.

That was the one i got, offered him 20 and he accepted.

May be different for an 07 though I would look into it before buying one.

Functions that can be coded depend on the modules fitted to your car, as you read the current file stored on it and then activate/deactivate features but different cars have different files.

I've not tried loading a string into a module that wasnt there originally yet.

Thats the only one I could find over here in the USA, its like twice what you paid but it comes with all the software, do you think its a good deal or is the software hard to source?

Also how easy is it to actually use whichever program you are using?

That looks like just various softwares, you can get them for free just need to find the full versions as there are lots of fragments about, i used the following from pirate bay.

http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4576800/Inpa_5.0

Heard DIS and some of the other software can be hard to install but I haven't tried and people said similar about INPA and NCS which i am using but they werent hard to install at all.

INPA which reads codes et i haven't used much. NCS which is used to do the coding is relatively straight forward, you basically download the file for the module make the changes then upload it back to the car.

Only downside is its all in german, Im still looking for the file that converts it to english but there are quite a few sources around to work out which functions are which.

This link helped alot also.
