With the AV voting system you have a first and second choice, whereas the current system you only vote for whom you want in - unless you are voting with tact.
It's fairly straight-forward, the Austrailians use this method, but many complain that they'd prefer it our way.
The main gripe is that those who vote Conservative will take LibDem as second choice, and Labour voters will also vote the Libs as a second choice; meaning that the party nobody really wants in could possibly win...
Hope that makes better sense.

I had to phone the council today as I hadn't had anything through
Turns out they haven't updated anything since we moved despite me telling them in January.

They've said I can still vote just need to go to my old polling station
Will probably do that to do the AV vote but it's pretty pointless me doing the district council one as we're now in a different parish

Should I have received a ballot paper in the post? As I dont have anything, polling booth is literally a five minute walk from my house but I dont want to stand in line or whatever for ages to then be turned away, never voted before so not sure how it works

I just turned up this morning, they asked what street I lived in then number and name. They looked up my voter number and I got a slip, took maybe 30secs (although there was no one else there)
