Haven't got time really to do them myself and my brakes are completely fubarred

Just had a quote from the garage round the corner from work, professional but small place; not a dodgy backstreet garage but not a main dealer either.

£342 incl. VAT for 4 sets of disks and pads incl. fitting

This seems extortinate for what it is, what would you expect to pay?

Car is a 2004 Jaguar X Type 2.0D

its piss easy to refurb your brakes do it yourself ffs, and to change the pads and disks

I have a house to rebuild at the same time Steve and I live there day in day out so it'd be nice to have a luxuries like downstairs lights and a kitchen.......

At that price I will do but if I can have it done for under £200, I cba to do it myself

Do the calipers need refurbing or is it just a case of new pads and disks? If it's pads and discs you're more than welcome to buy them from somewhere and bring it round mine and i'll do it.
