The k series engine has a horrendously designed head gasket, which is why it is shit.

I wouldn't buy a newer mg full stop. Bits of trim just fall off. Terrible cars.

the diesel engine in these is bomb proof if maintained properly and can be tuned up quite well about 160bhp and nearly 300lbft of torque

Until bits fall off. Genuinely, I know two people who have owned them, one still does. It's a 54 plate with quite low miles and air vents and the likes literally just fall out It has to be THEE worst put together car I have ever seen.

My old man had two of them, both fucking horrendous interior quality. Door handles would come off in your hand, press buttons on the dash and they would fall out, just pure shite.

Though he never did have any other problems with them!

its an L Series rover lump, nothing to do with BMW.
they come as 101 bhp or 113bhp, both are highly tuneable.

if you swap the injectors over for some from the previous generation rover L series SDI engine you will see an instant increase of around 15bhp due to the different spray pattern from the injector heads.

the L series engines are bomb proof as long as they are serviced correctly, as said above.
interior quality isnt the best, try and get a + model, as they do have half leather, the other models dont, its vinyl and wears out fairly quickly.

they are cheap to buy, cheap to maintain, cheap to mod, and will once tuned surprise a lot of higher priced, higher class cars.

deffo worth a punt

the facelift mg's are N series engines, alot better than the L series which had the leaking cam cover problem.

Do you believe that the K series is a good engine? It's not an isolated incident, they quiet literally blow up at any point in time. That is a shit engine.

I've had more than enough k series and not had one blow up, my dad has had plenty of them too and neither have they gone bang. i believe they're branded a shit engine because of the head gasket issues but that only happened due to them having aluminium heads. driven properly they have no issues.
