I have did a few in my younger days, mostly with just lifting a plank of wood up a tree, but this guy goes just that bit futher

Don't know why he has 2 poles going through the tree, when only 1 pole is taking the weight

The metal block spreads the weight between the two poles.

the guy very clearly knows what hes doing, im pretty sure that second pole will be taking as much weight as the first

my grandad had one of these in his garden, but it got taken down as someone thought it was unsafe for us kids

never got to go in it

Yeah but only 1 pole is attached to the tree house , the extra weight the second lower pole is taking doesn't disapear into thin air.

I suggest you watch Planet Earth - People of the jungle.

the tree houses they build are out of this world, especially with the lack of tools and safety gear they have.

Top pole can't deflect without bending the lower beam, its much stronger

So where does the weight go....through the top pole
You can't spread weight out in this case.

the weight goes down the tree, this really is simple in my head.

it works like an I-beam in theory, also a bit of cantilever effect there

Its cool and all. But i cant help thinking it dosent really have that proper treehouse feel.

Bit overengineered imo

i was once a treehouse, i lived inside a cake, but i never saw when the orange slayed the rake.
