Got myself a new workhorse. Due to the mileage I'm doing nowadays my Primera was never ideal on the economy front and definitely failed on the professionalism too so I've finally sorted a replacement for it

Nice little Combo 1.3, surprisingly nippy for someone not used to small engined diesels, should be a pleasant office for me although I'll admit the cup holders are a disappointment (may sound daft but when you sometimes spend 10+ hours a day on the road, having somewhere to keep your active drink whilst driving is much welcomed). Plenty of space in the back too, I was just about reaching capacity in the Primera

Another nice Brucey bonus is that we now have a B, C and D in the household

What I would save in diesel (if anything at all) I make up more than in vehicle cost and time spent on jobs

Which you can still choose to do in the Combo - which will be better on fuel anyway.

Prefer the camper tbh

The back's less than 6ft too so not ideal.

I think Ian's thinking of the 50 mph limit on single carriageways for over 2 tonners. All the Combos are under 2 tonne and therefore have an extra 10 mph

Nope, any van over 2t has different speed limits.

SWB Connect is 2040kg and LWB is about 2200 I think.

Combo is either 1700 or 2000, both of which have the same limits as passenger cars.

Just looking now, I didn't know about the 60mph on dual carriageways one, I thought it was just the 50 on single carriageways.

http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roadsafety/speedmanagement/vanspeedlimits

Edit: Actually, reading that it applies to the Combo too Exemptions are car derived and under 2t ie. Corsa van, Combo isn't derived from a car chassis

Edit again: ARGH, in the next paragraph it contradicts itself, I'm sick of grey areas

It's amazing how many people have no idea about these differing speed limits. You've got to wonder how many coppers are actually fully aware of them.
