what is your method of disconnection of your battery?

this may not seem like an important question to the Mechanics around here, but im not a Mechanic and would like to know tha best option of Disconnection.

IIRC i have always taken the negative off first but also taken the positive off too..

is this bad?

Most work on a car doesnt really require the battery disconnected.
If I am doing it I remove positive first so the earth is still connected. When putting it back on I earth it first then put on positive

I hate working with electricity, I prefer to be able to know if somethings going to harm me such as something moving, e.g belts, shafts etc. Never know when theres some volts there

You should do it the other way around. With the earth still connected, all of the body is still earthed so there's a much greater chance of something arcing the battery positive to an earth whereas if the earth's disconnected first it cold only be arced out by something actually touching both battery terminals which is obviously a lot less likely.

If you're just disconnecting it to wire something in then it only needs the earth disconnecting. Iirc I don't think I even disconnected my battery when I wired the alarm in my old Corsa, probably should have done

if you want to disconect it, its always remove negetive first. if you touch any bodywork whilst disconecting the negetive it wont arc out and weld your tools together. once thats off it doesnt matter if you accidentaly earth out the positive because the circuit is broken

It really doesnt matter so long as your being careful. Not to touch anything metal with the positive while the earth is still connected. But the proper way is NP then PN as above.
