my alternator has started squeaking randomly, kind of a whistle sound, on and off every now and then. belt is fine though.
any ideas chaps?

Are you sure its not the belt? Does it do it when wet/damp or when you first start the car? Or when lights or heaters have been switched on?
If it isnt the belt or pulley on alternator then itl be a new /recon alternator. Try the belt first though for an easy fix

Does it do it when wet/damp? no just been down the road to put some juice in and its dry and done it for few seconds then
when you first start the car? mostly yeah but sometimes still does it regardless

The belt may look new but if its not tensioned correctly it will slip and cause a squeak, sometimes really high pitched

^^^ mine did this I kept thinking it was something rubbing or dry, so wd40'd it it went away for a day or 2 then I found out it's because it didn't have enough tension. So try that
