Hello.
Hope this helps.
The car you are refering to would have been L246 NOO.
This was a rear wheel drive prototype that use the granada scorpio cosworth FB engine and a mt 75 gear box that was an attempt to try and over come the poor sales of the escort cosworth and to compete with the golf vr6.
If you have alook in Graham Robsons book Cosworth And Ford The Road Cars on pages 143,144 and 149 is gives all the text and a picture of the car which had now been crushed(so i have been told)
The yellow Escort Cosworth L762MJN was a planed evolution model rumoured to be 300bhp out of the box.
There are many rumours as to what this car was meant to be.
Although it is officially a prototype if you put the reg number into fords computer is will show as a radiant red car with a/c and cd player.
Its whole story as i was told is it was taken off the cosworth line in karmans, put on to the cabriolet line to be painted zinc yellow then put back on the cosworth line for assembly.
How true this is i dont know, but one of the guys from FMC told me this back in 2002 when Ford lent the RSOC this car and L130NWC, 000 jewel voilet monte for 10 years of the Escort Cosworth display at Donnigton Park.
The car was then subjected to a power upgrade, fitted with A8 recaro seats,a nardini steering wheel and a alloy gear knob(as later seen in the montes).
Again quoting info from Graham Robsons book an Acropolis limited edition car painted in yellow with a 200 proposed run was aborted.
Back in 2002 there were some homologation data on the front panel of the vehicle.
When i drove the car around Donnington Park circuit it did seem a lot more lively than a standard escort.
Hope this info is of some help.
