when i built my car.
when jacked up on one side if you tured the driven wheel one way it would turn so far then try to turn the other driven wheel the same way
when front is totally jacked up and one drive wheel is turned, it turns the other wheel the same way
therfore making me thing it has a lsd.
now here one of my questions. with the cover plate off. it has a gm part number on one side.
so is it a lsd?
secondly. more importantly
on the way to pvs. i got steering vibration that went away when the clutch was pressed.
it pulled to the left hard
then a few miles later the short shaft outer cv let go.
never had any warning, no clicking or anything,
looking at the diff. there is a tiny bit of side to side play. 1mm ish but no other.
all teeth as far as i can see are ok
so could my diff a lsd one
and would it have been simply a worn cv going. or is ther something else that caused it.?

Open diff will spin the wheels in opposite directions if they're both free.
Is the part number on the crown wheel? You would retain this to fit an LSD.
If the problem is isolated by the clutch when the car is moving then it's got to be engine side of the clutch as everything else will still be spinning. This wouldn't be the case for the CV.

right so im right in thinking i have a lsd.
what are your thoughts on the problem?
just a worn cv and the diff killed it faster than a open diff would have?
when i stopped the before it blew. i unwound the diff as it was solid

If you get a pic of the diff (either with the cover plate off as you have in vid) Or if you remove a shaft and get a pic, will be easy to tell if it has a LSD.

so if its stock and its acting like a lsd as it locks out the other wheel
does that mean one of the little cogs inside is toast. locking it up?

ive figured it out.
removed the box.
flipped it upside down
the little gears in the diff. are toast. teeth chipped etc
