wasting time on 40s, too small, 45mm webers or go for zx6r bike carbs or r1 carbs if going to run some decent lift cams.

and what do you class as a full rebuild btw?

Yeah you want 45's. They fitted 40's to 1.3 Nova's

Heard anywhere between 180-200bhp depending on other mods.

Why not just go throttle bodies instead?

More money, but more power!

Carbs need fucking about with all the time too. And MPG will be wank

more power is bollox...you get the same peak power but gain more mid range with tbs.

also carbs dont need playing with all the time, its all down to how good the carbs are and the person setting them up.

ive ran xes with 45s, r1s and tbs all been very good.

pound for pound bike carbs are ones to use. give better mid range than 45webers and mpg too and cheaper to get hold of. ive built an xe on rods/pistons, ported head, r1 carbs, tle exhaust and 270 newman cams and made 190bhp@wheels in a westy at 6.5k.

lad had his mk2 grp4 escort on mates rollers week after, 45s, solid lifted, dry sumped, etc 197bhp @wheels at 8.3k! proves theres no need to rev tits out of them to get good power
