Where do I start?
I've been asked to go work in Wimbledon tomorrow but need to be registered to start paying tax.
This week is fine as will pay my dad but need to sort it as it's a 5 week job.

As others have said, you either do it online or over the phone. It took me ages to get my UTR though and if the main contractor takes your tax at source under the CIS you'll have to stomach 30% until you get your UTR and register for CIS. You'll get this back in April when you submit your self assessment return. You'll also have to pay basic National Insurance, I think this is only about £5 a week though.
I started in September and paid 30% for a good 3 months, then 20% until April and I'm getting 3k back soon.

Depends how they pay you, you could get paid without deductions then it's up to you to pay your tax at the year end. Who are you doing the work for?

You got a decent pay off anyway didn't you? Cant imagine wimbledon work will be too tough, and the extra tax will be a nice little saving account to claim back anyway, if you got a decent pay off, then i'm assuming it's more something to do than being desperate for cash?
If you didn't get a pay off then ignore this statement

WTF Im now a painter and decorater my dads got some contacts and we are working for a bloke who's got this refurb job in Wimbledon but does everything above board so need to be registered self employed to work with him. If it was a one off I wouldn't bother this soon but got loads of worked lined up.
Jambo, yes it's amazing.
