ok so it's just got windy outside just as i want to have a barbecue.
i've just put some white spirit on the coals to light them, but how safe is it with regards to cooking the meat on?
googled it and it says wait until the turps burns off the coals before cooking.
bit worried incase i die

I drink turps when I'm low on beer/money. Can't see it being a problem as you will have burnt off all the bad stuff and you don't put food direct on the coals anyway.

Yes to start it but give it a good 15mins before you stick any food on there otherwise you'll fuck it right up!!

Your not supposed to cook on flames anyways. So by the time the coals are good to go the petrol/White spirit/thinners/that stuff in an old jamjar in the shed that smells a bit lethal remnants will be gone

Blow torches are good for getting coals burning on a windy day.
