can you please turn your ignition on and tell me if you have an amber engine light come on for a few seconds?
lads on UKMKIVS forum are useless. The only people who replied have petrols and they all have one.
Mine is a diesel, and its not working. a little worried.
Much appreciated.

sorry if ive not explained properly but ...
i think the engine management light SHOULD come on. this is a square amber light that looks like a picture of an engine.
this ISNT coming on in my car, and i think it should.

Everything should light up on the dash for a second when the ignition is turned on.
so you can tell if someones taken the bulb out etc

EXACTLY my thoughts!
mine isnt coming on.
neither is my friends tdi 150.
neither is my other friends anniversary tdi.
BAFFLED!
i have disconnected my air flow meter - which has resulted in an error code on the OBD - MAF failure. BUT the engine light still didnt come on !
done the same with my friends - same thing happened.
the LED on the speedo PCB looks intact and has been fiddled with. neither has it been blanked off or obstructed.
confused.

btw - i must say, prompt responses from the reliable corsasport crew members.
all other forums seem so crap compared to this one.

I'd certainly get the clocks out and have a look perhaps, I shouldn't think it would be too difficult to replace, just suspicious why they would remove it if there's nothing wrong with the car to come up. May have even just blown if it's a normal filament bulb

they are LEDs yes.
my initial suspicions were - the engines buggered somewhere - and the EML is constantly on.so i got hold of a diagnostic machine - and there is no fault with the car whatsoever so im relieved.
im just curious as to whether it should have this light or not.
but the more TDi owners i ask - the more the answetr points to NO.
but a VAg car - with no eml light?? that cant be true.... i find it very hard to believe.

MAF doesn't always throw an engine light.

Be wary about unplugging the clocks altogether though. did this to my mums Petrol A4 to replace them(pixels had gone) and completely wiped the codes etc from Ecu so the car wouldnt start

really? i didnt think think it was common for LEDs to go at all! never mind the ones behind the clocks.
i have run an onboard diagnostic check and theres not fault codes so im quite happy that theres nothing wrong with my car and someone isnt hiding something! that was my worst nightmare.

MAF should always throw up EML as far as i know???
i looked into this. i have the immo2 clocks - which dont have the immoliser built into them. its the immo3 ones that have the immobiliser in them.

Doesn't always, different clocks have different lights in different places as well, even on seemingly the same model of car.
Unplugging clocks shouldn't lose anything, you don't lose coding when the battery is disconnected do you.

The key code is storred in the dash cluster, so if you swap it out you will have to recode. If you remove and refit the same cluster the code wont be lost.
