Do you go for something that looks standard but has the spec you want, or do you go for something that looks stylish also?

Spec I want, don't really care what it looks like as long as it does what I want.
If the styling doesn't cost anymore then I'd obviously go for the nicer looking one

Both. Got a laptop with a high spec and ordered it with artwork on the cover so it looks nice too.

Yup, specs all the way. As long as it isn't packaged in a beige box i couldn't give a crap what it looks like and it'll be under the desk and out the way.

The last 3 PC's I have built myself. So I try to get the best of both.

The reason I ask - I want to sell PCs amongst other things both online and to people I go out and visit.

I did toy with the idea of selling exclusively Dell computers, but they are all pretty anonymous looking and every fucker out there floods the market with standard looking PCs/laptops.

So... I was thinking of developing a range of PCs (and possibly laptops) that actually look nice, for the discerning (and well off) computer user...

My last two work PCs have been from Mesh Computers.

I was going to build my own but their prices ended up being similar at the time.

They come well put together, although the LEDs failed on the front of my recent one

Not sure how much recourse you will have, given that Mesh went into administration last month

Building and selling custom computers would be nothing but a headache to support.

Selling Dell with NBD warranty is a much better idea, then you can also just get Dell out to replace bits.

Well I would probably sell Dell computers for people that want standard run of the mill systems (i.e. cheap home/office use, etc).

I was just thinking of developing a range of custom built systems for people that want something a bit nicer/niche (i.e. gaming, systems with SSD, that kind of thing).
