OK, I'm having the headgasket done on my c20xe, while its off, I will also ytake chance to do other bits.
Now, as far as block work, I'm limited.
However, At moment,
I'm replacing cams, (recommend me some)
new pullies(again recom please)
H.G obviously.
stem seals
Other ideas, have pretty decent budget, but the place the head goes to will only skim, hence limitations

I think they are more of a safe than sorry kind of affair? A bit safer when you start running higher rpm/power... But I can't confirm it For the cost of them you might as well!
Edit: And iirc they are about £50-60? Sure they were last time I was on eBay!

Send it somewhere else to get ported and polished, who says you need to get all the work done in the one place?

use a z20let 3 layer metal head gasket or if you wanna pay a bit more a cometic one, greg gsi has some decent vernier pulleys for sale 110 quid for both and s for cams just dont buy some off ebay because iv found most of em come out of auto grass engines and have been thrashed to fuck which doesnt necesarily mean anything bad but piece of mind and for the price difference id rather go new lol

Standard HG will be fine.
Autosprint will do you some mild cams on exchange basis for a decent price.
What exhaust system are you running??

my Ehaust system, consists of a 4-2-1>cat> catback sportex system
so mild cams are best you think mate?

Is the sportex system for a Corsa??I.E small bore??If so then get that changed for something with at least a 2" bore. And remove the cat.
Even with the cat removed, you will notice a huge difference in the way it revs.

no i used a z20let 3 layer gasket on my xe and im using one on my current xe not for any particular performance gain just simply because its metal and better quality and its not as expensive as cometic but its also re useable within reason etc etc

I would just go for a set of mild cams then.
Do you have the funds to do the other stuff when the engine is built back up??If not then you won't notice the gains till its breathing properly.A 2" bore at least is a must on an XE,anything smaller and the engine will be suffocating.

Lap the valves in, just a mild clean of the ports.
The above is cheap and is a good idea IMO.
