The car I bought, the Fuel and Temp gauge failed to work. I swapped the entire speedo and it solved the problem. This was after I screwed about with the temp sender, etc, ripping up the back bench and carpet trying to check the connections, when all along it was a dodgy speedo.

Try it. Source another speedo. Either completely swap the 'speed' bit of it, or just slap in the new entire speedo, which is probably the cheapest and easiest way dude. Pretty sure someone is selling one right now for £15 posted.

You need to find out if the clocks are mech or elec then find out what gearbox is in it. I wouldnt go swapping the clocks yet, it might need a transducer on the gearbox

Look at the gearbox straight down in the engine bay it will say in a little square give it a wipe usually dirty it will be ie f16, f18 or f20

What year is the Sport? The best way to tell it look at the top of the gearbox by the linkage. If it's a thick grey cable then it's cable drive, the cable could be broken, just new cable and drive from a corsa.

Or it's more likely to be a electric one, in that case you'll need one of these from a 8v corsa with electric speedo.

I've got one for sale by the way.

does the plug going into the gearbox look like the picture above if not then itll be the speedo off the 1.6 loom either get the transducer ie pic above with plug and connect that up or buy cable driven clocks buy a speedo cable no more than a tenner screw to the box plug into the clocks and itll work
