Not pornos
Was never a big fan of comics or animation really - but was pursuaded to read the whole of 'Preacher' by Garth Ennis a couple of years back ..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preacher_(comics). Pretty much smashed through all 8 or 9 compilation books in a couple of sittings and absolutley loved it ...cant really recommend this book high enough
Since then ive gone through Watchmen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watchmen and The Walking Dead http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_walking_dead- both of which are sensational....Watchmen is up there with the best Novels of all time without a doubt.
All of these were borrowed off a friend...now thinking of buying some myself - just wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

How far did you get into it - the first 20 pages or so are a struggle I admitt.... after that its stunning. I dont get how you were bored by it?
Read preacher if you want something fast paced - it is fucking immense

Love how aldults call Comics 'Graphic Novels' in an attempt to not look like so much of a geek

Kind of agree with you ... however the three I have read so far dont really read like comics -preacher and walking dead have extreme adult content and there is much more actual prose to read than pictures. Basically like watching a really long film scene by scene. Watchmen is essentially a novel - its got breaks in the graphics where you just have three or four pages of writing.
As I say - im not really a 'comic book' fan - have no interest in marvel superheros or anything like that. Imo there are comics and then there are graphic novels, and the two things are not the same at all.

The Criminal series by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips Eisne is good as is Frank Miller's Batman:
The Dark Knight Returns

apparantly there was going to be a 'Preacher' tv series - would be fucking epic .... was shelved due to the extreme anti religious bias in it though
some of the actual graphics in preacher are stunning
