Som of you will remember the green Singer 911 seen in the background of this picture:

The California company has now made delivery of their third customer car, featuring the style and class of the original 911's with the performance and technology of the new ones.

This time however, Cosworth is providing the engine.

The Singer-Cosworth engine is available in three options: 300, 380 and (more than) 425 hp.

Still looks like the ultimate Porsche to me.

Im with Barnshaw on this, I think it looks hideous.

Richard Hammond would cream over this.

If you bought one you would have to keep explaining to people that its not an old banger classic porsche and the reasons why etc etc.

I will admit thought that I can appreciate the concept of this.

I don't think you'd have to explain to anyone that something so mint is NOT a banger?!

Ok Banger is the wrong word

You know what I mean though.

Those not in the know will just think its an old mint condition Porsche (which is great in the eyes of petrol heads and enthusiasts) and will have a heart attack when they find out what you paid for it... Cue you having to explain exactly what it is etc etc.....

What are the prices for the various options out of curiosity? I bet its 997 Turbo Money x 3 or something ridiculous.

Yes but you are missing the point, it's a traditional air cooled 911 with more soul and character than any 400 bhp jap box. It's supposed to retain that old school feel (which appeals to purists) with all the modern suspension brakes etc.

To be honest I'd be embarrassed trying to explain why I am drvingna scooby with a loud exhaust and big wheels

starts at £120k for 300bhp, Getrag 5 speed, Bilstein adjustable suspension and 993 brakes. Id well have one if I was looking for a car in that price range!

Whoa easy, I was commenting in the context of Seth's comments. I've never owned a performance car before so I can't comment or have a personal opinion

Looks like the engine's in the wrong place tbh

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

NO

I see the point as I mentioned in a previous post that I can appreciate the concept.

How has a 400bhp jap box even come into this conversation? Where have I once mentioned Jap Performance Cars?

so what is the retail on one of these then? I am expecting it to be ridiculous.

Thus my point is I would put the money into a fairly new 997 turbo if I was in the market for a 911. That is just my preference and I dont care what anyone says you would be constantly explaining to joe blogg public/family/work collegues etc why your old skool porsche cost you millions of quids.

Starting at $190,000 and extending beyond the $300k

Obviously a car for the hardcore affectionado!

which kind of supports my point that joe blogg public would not get it and thus you would have to constantly explain why you have this and not a brande new shiny 2011 997 turbo for considerably less money!

Reminds me of someone I know who sold his £150k Mercedes SLS because he was fed up explaining to people what it was.

Easier to spend £150k on a Ferrari and not need to exchange small talk on what the fuck it actually is.

I can appreciate the theory and execution of the above, but it doesnt appeal to me one bit.

Looks lovely Although not quite sure about those seats.....
A little confused about the whole explaining it to people business; didn't realise people purchase cars to explain to 'joe bloggs' on the street, always thought you bought a car because you want it
