My cat is braking up now so i think its on its last legs...
What are the pros and cons? (dont worry about mot got it coverd )
Or should i have normal or sports cat?
How much fuel would i loose about? (mpg)?
Also how loud would it make the car? (p.s i have cat back power flow and it sounds nice not to loud tho..)
Any help in what to do would be good

Well my Mpg increased on a whole when I fitted my milltek manifold and decat. Not sure why as it overfuels like fuck. can on guess 2nd lambda sensor reads it as rich and weens out the fueling.

More MPG will be cos its still requesting the same amount of fuel (as map wont change) but there is less restriction so therefore more power for same amount of fuel.

Is it not illegal if the car/engine was not made before 1992? because of emissions and that?
I'm not against it just thought Sean would like to know lol

For example
20xe early redtop no cat needed
C20xe still early or late but needs a cat

If you've covered on the MOT front then go for it Mines decatted and its sounds much nicer without it. More ground clearance too which is always handy lol

Better off doing it as car tax keeps going up so you can get your money's worth!

Its because its classed as a mod. If you car needs a cat then obv you wont be able to insure without one because it illegal to do and as its not on your insurance, they dont have to pay out. Just like having alloys etc on but there not on your insurance.
Before people go on, im not on my high horse telling you not to do it etc etc. I know alot of people do it but its probably best you know then find out when your insurance wont pay out.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
I thought its not legal requirement if your car can pass emissions without the Cat? Regardless of whether it was pre 91 or not.

Depends on the rest of the exhaust really chris. I've got a massive middle box on mine so no pops or bangs from mine
