Just seen a mate talking about this on Facebook. How do you play Monopoly?

When you land on a property which isn't currently owned by anyone, what do you do?

Yeah I had it on the ZX Spectrum and they were auctioned.

Incidentaly, to auction is the correct way according to the rules. Just most people apparently overlook it.

if you are playing propper rules you have to put it up for auction so all players can bid, but it depends how many players are actually playing for this to work.

Never played the auction rule. Could prevent the game going on for hours and hours and hours though

I know the auction rule exists but have never followed it. Way too much effort to organise people to place bids etc.

Besides, I'm usually too busy buying up anything and everything to care

Actually the monopoly i have on my 'iphone' has the auction rule.
A good way to beat the computer is when the comp has little money and you land on something worth more than they have then you dont buy it but you do bid £1 more than what the computer can afford therefore you get a bargain.

Always played it the way where you can only buy a property if you land it, therefore if you dont want to buy it, you just carry on.
